Performance art by Baktruppen (Böcker)

This book provides the first published documentation of the work of the Norwegian Perfor- mance group Baktruppen. The company was formed as an artist collective in 1986 and has since been active with a rich body of multidisciplinary performance based art work. This volume presents a range of texts introducing the work of Baktruppen to a larger audience, seeing their performances in an international perspective of contemporary art and performance theory. Baktruppen have always been challenging tradition, technique, and normative aesthetic quali- ties. After 23 years of international touring, it is almost impossible to cover the entire works of Baktruppen in one book. It is however an open question if and when there will be a second part of the story of Baktruppen.
